Queer Puppets Cabaret

Quarterhouse

Live music from 19:30. Performance starts 20:00. Duration 150 mins with intervals

Queer Puppets Cabaret is Folkestone’s night of uncensored, queerky puppetry.

It started in September 2016 as a bi-monthly platform committed to offer challenging, bizarre, satirical, sexy and profound puppetry.

It aims to support puppetry work that is often under represented in mainstream theatre and performance spaces.

The cabaret is inspired by the history of radical puppetry, one that sees puppets as the public voice allowed what no one else is, challenging political authorities, moral taboos and exposing social inequality. It aims to explore the potential of puppetry to generate alternative views of life.

Queer Puppets Cabaret is an event where humour, immorality and puppets collide for more than just grown-ups entertainment, providing audiences with a way to see puppetry beyond children’s shows and tv programmes.

The night is hosted by the infamous Tatiana and her ‘special’ guests and stories.

Expect the unexpected from human size puppets and headless dolls to raucous paper creatures and birthing puppets.
